There are many benefits to waxing versus other forms of hair removal. It is an effective method to remove large amounts of hair at one time.
\nIt is a long-lasting method. Hair in waxed areas usually won\u2019t grow back for at least 2 weeks.
\nWhen hair is shaved or removed by depilatory cream,the hair is removed at the surface rather than the root. Within a few days, the hair can be seen at the surface as it grows back.<\/p>\n

Tips for waxing<\/span><\/strong><\/span>
\nBefore:<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

\u2022 Exfoliation should take place 24-48 hours prior to waxing
\n\u2022 Ensure hair is long enough, leave at least 3-4 weeks after shaving & prior waxes
\n\u2022 If you\u2019re really worried about the pain, or haven\u2019t had waxing before then take 1 or 2 paracetamol about 30-40 minutes before your appointment. This can help reduce the surface discomfort
\n\u2022 Wear loose clothing as this reduces irritation following a wax
\n\u2022 Ensure skin is clean and product free
\n\u2022 Make sure skin is free from irritation, open wounds, and\u00a0sun burn
\n\u2022 Ensure you don\u2019t have any contraindications to waxing, tell your therapist if you have any allergies, are on any medications or have any health issues
\n\u2022 Don\u2019t drink alcohol or caffeinated drinks prior as this can make you more sensitive.
\n\u2022 Women may want to avoid waxing while menstruating as you are more sensitized. Some therapist will not wax the pubic area at this time of the month, so check with your therapist first.<\/p>\n

After:\u00a0<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

\u2022 It\u2019s normal immediately after your wax for a little bit of redness and a prickly heat type rash to appear. This should disappear after a few hours and is normally due to a histamine reaction. Because waxing removes the hair at the root, it\u2019s important that you keep the area clean and bacteria free.
\n\u2022 Avoid touching the area after waxing.
\n\u2022 To sooth post-waxing areas you can use Aloe-based products or anything with tea tree or lavender will help soothe, heal and provide antibacterial properties or a simple cold compress can help too.
\n\u2022 Exfoliation should take place again 24-48 hours after waxing, and frequently following this. This along with an ingrown hair solution will help any ingrown or embedded hairs that may occur.
\n\u2022 Ensure you have a warm rather than hot shower after waxing and avoid swimming, using a spa bath or sauna and exercising for 24 hours to avoid any infection as pores are still open.
\n\u2022 Wait 24-48 hours to start using products on the area like make-up, creams, tanning lotions or getting a spray tan as well as sunbathing or using sunbeds.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
